Meet the GSCC 2.0 Coaches
RICHARD PESCARINO (Math)
St. Louis Community College, St. Louis, MOMy approach is more student-centered [since participating in GSCC]. I focus more on connecting with the students and trying to motivate them, rather than just delivering a clear lesson.

How We Work
GSCC has developed Tools and Routines that allow faculty, individually and collaboratively, to record, share, and analyze their practice. This record, in turn, allows the GSCC Team to analyze the collective faculty practice in search of pedagogical themes and patterns that are associated with high student pass rates.
The Tools are online resources that make it easy for individual faculty to document their work. The Routines guide their individual and group activities. For example, faculty post specified information in their ePortfolios weekly and use the theme glossary to tag their reflection on their practice. They also review and comment on the tags of a colleague and periodically discuss their work and themes with their discipline-based team in a polilogue forum. It is these themes and the emerging patterns that they represent that the GSCC Team is working to link to improved student outcomes.
